Lyric Theatre present their version of everyone's favorite umbrella-wielding nanny

Why See Mary Poppins?

Supercalifragil...etc

Lyric Theatre present their version of Mary Poppins, the classic tale of a Victorian nanny who has a touch of magic about her. This musical is based on the Oscar-winning 1964 Disney movie starring Julie Andrews, which in turn took its inspiration from the books of Australian author P.L. Travers (the story of Disney's adaptation was featured in the film Saving Mr. Banks). The original Broadway production, produced by English theatre impresario Cameron Mackintosh and written by Downtown Abbey scribe Julian Fellowes, was a sensation and was nominated for seven Tony Awards.

A real treat for all the family, Mary Poppins contains one of the greatest, and instantly recognisable scores in the history of musicals. Written by the Sherman Brothers, the songs include Feed the Birds, Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, A Spoonful of Sugar and Chim Chim Cher-ee.

What is Mary Poppins About?

George and Winifred Banks, of Cherry Tree Lane, are at their wits end. The behaviour of their two troublesome children Jane and Michael have just caused yet another nanny to quit. But help is at hand in the form of Mary Poppins, a beautiful and smart young nanny who arrives to solve all the families problems with a little bit of magic.
