Balanchine, Mills and Milles
OKC presents an exuberant triple bill, including Balanchine's landmark Serenade, the premiere of Artistic Director Robert Mills' brand new ballet Our Private Rooms, ending of course with Agnes De Milles' quintessential American work, Rodeo.
Program
Serenade
One of 20th century ballet's most important works, Serenade was the first ballet choregraphed by George Balanchine when he settled in America. Set to the dreamlike Serenade for strings by Tchaikovsky, this mood evoking work features dancers in near constant movement, forming sublime patterns.
Our Private Rooms
After staging new adaptations of Beauty and the Beast and Romeo and Juliet, Artistic Director Robert Miles returns to the abstract once more with this brand new work.
Rodeo
Set to the recognisable score by Aaron Copeland, Rodeo is one of Agnes De Milles' best-loved works, and is still presented all over the world today. Marrying classical ballet with the American West, Rodeo is a broadway worthy spectacle and a must see every season.
